ANGELA MERKEL BIOGRAPHY (1954–)
German stateswoman and chancellor (2005– ). Born Jul 17, 1954 in Hamburg, Germany. The daughter of a Lutheran priest and teacher, Merkel grew up in a farming area north of Berlin in the afterwards German Democratic Republic. She complicated production at the University of Leipzig, earning a doctorate in 1978, and after worked as a chemist at the Central Institute for Physical Chemistry, Academy of Sciences (1978–1990).
In 1990 she assimilated the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) domestic celebration and shortly after was allocated to Helmut Kohl’s cupboard as apportion for women and youth.
