Lea Michele Biography (1986-)

(born August 29, 1986) is an American    and . She is known for her extensive work on the Broadway  stage, particularly for her starring role as Wendla Bergman in Spring Awakening. She has recently received widespread acclaim for her performance as Rachel Berry in the Fox  television series Glee, which premiered in May 2009.

Michele began working professionally as a child actor on Broadway in productions such as Les Misérables. Michele appeared in several more musicals before being selected for the lead role in the hit musical Spring Awakening, earning herself a Drama Desk Award nomination for her performance. For Glee, Michele has received both a Satellite Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award and has additionally been nominated for a Golden Globe Award and a Teen Choice Award.
